This painting is a companion to a poem by a poet I know, Jim Pollock. The poem is called "If You Are A River". Jim and members of the Q Gallery Artist's Cooperative have organized a project called Verse and Vision. The resulting exhibit pairs artists and Wisconsin poets. The works are exhibited side-by-side. You get a rare glimpse into how words and images can combine to make a new work of art. The poems came first, the artist chose a poem to inspire them, and the artwork was born.
The show is open now at:
Q Gallery Artist's Cooperative
1108 Main Street, Stevens Point, Wisconsin
Poetry will be read this Friday, May 20
from 5:30-6:30 pm
at the Q Gallery
I will try to post the poem with the author's permission.
